NEASPEC 27th Senior Officials Meeting (SOM-27) will be organized on 12-13 December 2024, Beijing, China.
SOM is an annual occasion to review the NEASPEC activities, discuss strengthening cooperation and formulate new initiatives. The upcoming SOM is expected to review all the progress made in 2024 and plan for 2025.

- Desertification and Land Degradation
Short presentations to be made by the secretariat and partner institutions for each programme area, followed by interventions from delegations of member States.
The meeting will review the state of the Core Fund and project-based funds of NEASPEC. Member States are invited to announce intended cash and/or in-kind contributions for 2025.
The meeting will discuss the preparation for the development of NEASPEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
The meeting will invite member State hosting the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM-28) to inform on its provisional plan for its organization.
The meeting may raise any other issues not covered under the abovementioned items.
The report on the meeting consists of two major parts: (i) the conclusions and recommendations, and (ii) the proceedings of the Senior Officials Meeting. The first part of the Report will be adopted by the Senior Officials Meeting, and the second part will be prepared by the secretariat after the Meeting and will be circulated to member States for review and approval.
