As the Asia-Pacific region accounts for more than half of global greenhouse gas emissions, the rapid and sustained reduction in the region is a major determinant to achieve the global goal of limiting temperature increase to 1.5°C. Noting that 39 member States in Asia and the Pacific have pledged to net-zero emissions by or around mid-century, the side event will seek their complementary potentials to further accelerate progress in achieving the goals through multilateral collaboration among member States.
